MANZINI – Police, despite having apprehended three suspects for the alleged kidnapping of businessman Almor Oliveira, have revealed that a E5 million ransom has been demanded for his release.

The businessman was kidnapped outside his business premises while closing his shop following a scuffle that was confirmed by the police who spotted blood stains in his car.
The vehicle was found parked outside his office building in Matsapha.
The incident took place on April 16.

Currently behind bars assisting police in the businessman’s disappearance are two suspects. The duo has been charged with five counts. Qing Ming He (44) of China and Dao Thatha Hue aged 33 of Vietnam have already appeared before Magistrate Fikile Nhlabatsi who ordered that they be remanded in custody until May 8.
They are further charged with four counts whereby they allegedly contravened the Arms and Ammunitions Act after being found in possession of a 9mm special revolver loaded with three live rounds of ammunition and a Karat 12 bore shotgun loaded with four rounds of live ammunition.

They allegedly had no licence or permit to possess these weapons and thus contravened the Act.
The couple was arrested while at Ezulwini by the Lobamba police. The couple is alleged to be connected to the kidnapping of the business mogul, and thus would help the police as investigations proceed.
Also arrested was Zheng Renmel, who is believed to be suspect number one’s wife.

National Commissioner of Police Isaac Magagula yesterday revealed that their investigations had led them to the information that the businessman’s kidnappers wanted that amount of money before they returned him.
However, the captors behind the ransom remain unknown to the police.
Magagula revealed the ransom demand during the official closure of middle management skills development course at the Police College Command Wing.

He said as the nation would be aware having read from news reports, among other cases that they are grappling with as a Police Service that is giving them sleepless nights, was that of the kidnapping of the businessman.
He explained that they have been following and taking every lead seriously and have also been using all available platforms in a bid to solve the kidnapping, including social media.
