MBABANE – Who would have thought that a senior man of the cloth would feel mesmerised by the local hip hop culture, dance and even request an encore from the performing artists?

Well, it happened on Saturday during the Youth Easter Expo which took place at Worship Centre where the leader, Apostle Justice Dlamini, could not get enough of the music of hip hop stars KrTC, King Terry and the immensely talented gospel icon Switch.
The event, which was hosted for the church’s youth to enjoy some clean fun, saw Dlamini looking young himself as he grooved to the songs that were performed by the artists and further spent most of his time taking selfies with them.
But it was Claiming Grounds Record’s KrTC who had the Apostle remember his young days as he stood up to dance along to the artist’s songs ‘Gwayimane’ and ‘Amen’.

To prove that he was taken by the music , Dlamini not only took the microphone and praised the artist but further called for him to come back and perform some more.
The event itself achieved its motive of bringing the young people to have clean fun which they did as they danced like nobody’s business to the performances while the Apostle did not preach but gave them the go-ahead to loosen up a bit and get their groove on.

In an interview after the service, Dlamini mentioned that he was impressed with how artists were fusing the hip hop culture with gospel songs saying it was the perfect way of diverting the youth to his objective of encouraging clean fun. “I am very happy to see that our artists decided to uplift Christ through the type of music that they sing. It is a fact that hip hop music is the in-thing among young people and we are going to use that to preach the word of God,” Dlamini said.

He mentioned that the artists, KrTC and Switch impressed him and made him realise that there was a lot of potential in Swaziland.
“These boys are going far and I want them to rise to global status,” he said.
On another note, the Apostle mentioned that he was going to host South African award winning spinner DJ Black Coffee once again saying he was more interested in the artist’s following in order to use it to preach the word of God.
He mentioned that Black Coffee had so much influence which he as a leader of his church wanted to use in order to bring the artist’s thousands of fans to the church. “We are not after his talent but we want his following. We want his fans to be God’s fans. I will host him either in August or December because it is the time when schools are closed and young people are available. As you know, we are a young church but the aggression we have is good because we are hungry to make an impact,” Dlamini said.
