MBABANE- Manzini businessman Morris Matututu Dlamini says he was not at his farm when the shooting incident happened.

The popular businessman was on Tuesday arrested in connection with the death of Goodman Mamba, who was shot at his (businessman) farm situated at St Philip’s.
Mamba was allegedly shot by Thulani Dlamini, who is a security guard at the businessman’s farm.

It is alleged that the businessman gave Dlamini the gun knowing very well that he was not lincensed.
The security guard, who is the first accused in the matter, has also been arrested.

In his application for bail, Matututu stated that he would plead not guilty to the charge of murder but would enter a plea of guilty to that of violating the Arms and Ammunition Act.

“On March 18, 2017 I was not around my farm when the incident happened, I was at Hlane. I will plead not guilty to the charge of murder because I have a bona fide defence to that charge,” argued the businessman.
He also argued that his arrest would be prejudicial to his businesses as he was the sole signatory to all banking activities.

Giving a brief background on the circumstances leading to his arrest, Matututu mentioned that on March 21, 2017, he was arrested by police officers from Big Bend and was subsequently charged with murder and contravening the Arms and Ammunition Act.
According to the businessman, when the incident happened, he was called by his employee (Thulani Dlamini) to advice him about it.
He claimed that he quickly notified police officers from Big Bend, who eventually came to access the situation.

“I will plead guilty to contravening the Arms and Ammunition Act, in that I gave my employee the gun a long time ago to guard wild animals that are causing havoc at my farm by destroying my crops,” he stated
The businessman contended that he was not party to the commission of the murder and he does not know how he was made an accomplice and charged under common purpose.
He mentioned that he would parade his defence during trial.
