JUDGE MPENDULO, JSC REACH AMICABLE SOLUTION

MBABANE – The JSC has promised to grant suspended Judge Mpendulo Simelane his wish.

The judge, who is undergoing an impeachment enquiry, took the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) to court demanding to be forthwith furnished with the judge’s notebook he was dispossessed of early last year and written reasons for the chief justice’s refusal to recuse himself from the hearing. He also asked to be given a complete transcript of the proceedings showing the composition of the JSC from the first day of the enquiry.

The JSC yesterday assured the judge that he would be given the documents he required. As a result, Judge Simelane withdrew his application in the High Court. The matter was heard in Judge Mbutfo Mamba’s chambers after the parties held a discussion about a possible solution outside court.
Judge Simelane is represented by Advocate Lucas Maziya, who has been instructed by Ben J Simelane and Associates. Zweli Jele has been appointed by the JSC to prosecute in the enquiry.
