LUVE – A weekend of celebration after a game of soccer ended tragically for three friends who died in a horrific car crash on Saturday.

The friends, after watching the soccer game, decided to drive to Dvokolwako to buy marula brew and head back home.
They did not make it back as three of them lost their lives in a terrible racing accident.

This resulted in a Mkhabela family of Luve losing two of their sons while one, who was the driver, was admitted to the Raleigh Fitkin Memorial (RFM) Hospital. Thokozani Mkhabela (32), Andzile Nkonyane (23) and Sandile Dladla (40) died along the Luve/Mliba road on Saturday after one Xolani Mkhabela (35) lost control of his Audi, which veered off the road, knocked a ditch and overturned.

One of the first people at the scene of the accident was the younger brother to Sandile, popularly known as Msandi, Hlengi Dladla. Hlengi said his friends could not bring themselves to tell him that his brother was involved in a fatal accident, instead they drove him there where he made the discovery himself.

“When I saw the car, I did not imagine that anyone could have survived the accident, let alone that my brother was in it.” he said.
Hlengi further narrated that while parked at the scene of the accident, sitting in the friend’s car, he heard some people mentioning those who were involved in the accident and his brother’s name was included.

“I asked myself whether it was my brother ‘Msandi’ they were referring to and decided to investigate further. I was beyond devastated when I found out that my brothers body was among those of the deceased,” Hlengi lamented.
