MANZINI – Ngcoseni Central High School has shown a ‘red card’ to second-time failures in Form III and a ‘yellow card’ to first time failures of the same class.

This means that pupils who failed Form III for the first time last year will be given a chance to repeat the grade, while those who failed for the second time will have to try other schools. This is according to an impeccable source who attended the meeting which was between the school’s administration, parents and pupils of the Form III class of 2016 which was held at the school on Wednesday.

The source said the school told them that it had consulted with all relevant stakeholders, before the decision was reached.
“Their assumption was that the pupils failed for the second time because they do not understand the teachers,” the source said.

He said it would be pointless to give them another chance in the same school with the same teachers because they do not understand them.
“They said they felt that if pupils could try other schools with different teachers, it might work for them,” the source said. After the decision to sack the second time failures was discussed, the source said the administration sent a stern warning to the group of pupils who will be repeating the grade this year.

“The warning was mainly about conduct at school and being serious about their schoolwork,” the source said.
Meanwhile, the School Committee Chairman, Langa Dlamini, confirmed the meeting between the school’s administration, parents and pupils.  He said during the meeting, an agreement was reached that no one should be fired but those who had failed Form III for the first time should be given another chance to repeat while those who failed the grade for the second time should be allowed to try other schools.
