DR HYND IS DEAD

LWANDLE – Veteran missionary doctor and friend of Swaziland, Dr Samuel Wilson Hynd died yesterday morning at 5.30 while at his home at Elwadle.
Before his passing, Dr Hynd (91) had the Nazarene Church at his house who sang and prayed for him. Members of the church who were found gathered at his home yesterday revealed how he responded when they sang his favourite hymn, ‘Kaningi Ngithandaza’ in his bedroom where he spent most of his last days.
“When we visited Dr Hynd, he was not talking at all. However, when we started singing his favourite church song, he opened his eyes, smiled and his whole face became bright. It was like he was regaining life and he would leave his bed and join us. We sang another song, ‘He is Lord’, and we could see that he wanted to say something as he tried opening his mouth. He tried singing, however, the weakness in him just overpowered him. We sang, prayed and eventually left him as usual,” one of the church members said yesterday.
Dr Hynd’s eldest daughter, Dr Elizabeth Hynd, who confirmed the news of her father’s demise, said she arrived at their home after the church members had left, at 3pm, and found her father who had been confined to the bed, sleeping peacefully.
“I stayed with him and my sister and eventually left for my home at Bethany at around 4pm. I then received a phone call from my sister, Audrey, informing me that our father took his last breath while holding on tightly to her hand at about 5:30am. Our father has responded to the Lord’s call. Akashoni-as people say, umphefumulo sowuhambile.
Dr Hynd was never sick, he had no pain nor was he coughing, he just died peacefully while at his home resting,” Dr Elizabeth said.
