WE ARE BEING THREATENED – TUCOSWA

MBABANE – TUCOSWA Secretary General Vincent Ncongwane says all went well in Geneva where they told it all on what workers were subjected to in the kingdom.

TUCOSWA is an acronym for Trade Union Congress of Swaziland.
Ncongwane’s concern is the threats and intimidation tactics that they are now subjected to upon their return.

Nonetheless, he says they will not be intimidated. He said not even by those who play as if they are more patriotic than any other Swazi.
Ncongwane was speaking in an interview with this publication. He said government was bitter with their presentation to the international labour organisation (ILO). “We were also told of elderly grants distribution that were to take place, which is how ridiculous this thing became,” Ncongwane said.

Other issues raised by government objecting to the workers march was that the timing was wrong because there was to be the Swaziland International Trade Fair and the Umhlanga Reed Dance. “All these were activities so distant from where we were intending to stage the march-bekuvalwa nje,” Ncongwane pointed out saying government further threatened them.

“Nonetheless, we are not going to be intimidated. If we reported that we were told of butimba and some say we shouldn’t have mentioned this if we were true Swazis, that way out of order.”
Ncongwane emphasised that they cannot be threatened by people who play the biggest patriots.
