LOBAMBA – Former St Mark’s Primary School Head teacher Albert Fakudze was allegedly bought an Audi model motor vehicle by one of the school’s suppliers.

This was revealed yesterday during the sitting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), where it transpired that the director of Pocket Hailer Investment and Cornerstone Pharmacy, Nozipho Sikhosana, had allegedly purchased the vehicle.

The PAC was informed by the chairperson of the interim school committee, who was identified as Dlamini, that the relationship between the director and Fakudze had created a division at the school as teachers believed that the head teacher received a 10 per cent share from the suppliers after giving them tenders.

The members of the PAC were also shocked to learn that Pocket Hailer was allegedly paid about E220 000, which was about half the school’s budget, within a month yet other suppliers were not paid. They learned that although the cheques were ready, they were not paid out to other suppliers except Pocket Hailer.  What shocked the committee the most yesterday was that Fakudze was being transported to the PAC sitting in a fancy vehicle by Sikhosana and her sister, Phumla Masilela.

The PAC asked the duo if they found such an arrangement proper.
It was also revealed that Fakudze used to issue out some cheques in Sikhosana’s name instead of the company’s account.  The PAC said Sikhosana had to repay government an amount of E29 000 for stationery supplies, which were not delivered to St Mark’s, yet they were paid for.
In mitigation, Sikhosana said her business had since collapsed and she could not afford payments as she now ran a hairdressing salon and could only pay E500 per month.
