MBABANE – In a sudden turn of events the lawyer who was representing Pastor Joy Nonjabuliso Dlamini in the divorce proceedings between her and the Prime Minister, Dr Sibusiso Barnabas Dlamini has withdrawn from representing her.

Pastor Joy was being represented by Jose Rodrigues from Rodrigues & Associates in Manzini.
Rodrigues, who is also the President of the Law Society of Swaziland has since filed a notice of withdrawal as attorney of record for the woman of the cloth, but he did not outline the reasons why he was withdrawing his services.

This means that Pastor Joy would now have to hire another attorney to represent her in the event she continued to oppose the application filed by her husband.

Through her previous lawyer (Rodrigues), she indicated that she was opposing the application.
In the divorce proceedings, the prime minister cited incidences of violence as one of the major reasons he wants out of his marriage to Pastor Joy. In the combined summons that were filed at the High Court by the prime minister, some of the allegations are that his wife, who is also the Director of Library Services, was violent towards him and their support staff.

It is alleged that Pastor Joy once got so violent against one of their assistants that she used a broomstick, which eventually broke, while meting out punishment.

The premier, in his court papers, cited that life had become unbearable between them due to his spouse’s behaviour towards him and the staff. Another alleged incident was that his spouse once snapped and physically assaulted one of her bodyguards after a certain misunderstanding.
