LOBAMBA – Former Ngudzeni Member of Parliament (MP) Big Boy Mamba is alleged to have illegally purchased building material worth E1.2 million using government funds under the Rural Development Fund (RDF).

Mamba was left in the cold yesterday as all the parties that he allegedly discussed the various projects with disassociated themselves from him.
The parties, included bucopho, indvuna yenkhundla and various head teachers.

In the first instance, Mamba, who appeared before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) yesterday, was alleged to have purchased building material for a water tank worth E364 733.88 as opposed to E24 000, which was supposed to be for gardening tools.

Vice Chairperson of the Masibonisane Farmers Association Jabulile Mkhaliphi said, as a women’s association, they had written to the inkhundla and asked for 28 garden forks, 28 steel rakes, garden hoes and watering cans and the request was sent through, although they only received 25 forks and 25 rakes.

She said, however, they were again called to the inkhundla and were advised by the ex-MP that they also needed to purchase building material, including fence, to protect their garden, and cement to build a water tank so they could water the garden.

The association said, however, they did not fill in any form for the purchase of the material and were surprised to see the material being delivered when they believed that the matter was still under discussion.

Mfanasibili Ngcamphalala, who was Bucopho of the area, said they were surprised to learn that the material had been delivered, particularly since they (including indvuna yenkhundla) did not sign the document, which allowed for the purchase of the goods.
