MBABANE – A manager at Juries Manufacturers (PTY) LTD has been suspended from work for allegedly using profanity and abusive language towards his subordinates and demanding bribes from them.

Carlos Viloria, a South African citizen, is employed as a factory manager by the manufacturing company, which is situated at the Nhlangano Industrial Site, in the Shiselweni region. He has been slapped with nine charges, which include inter alia, using profanity and verbal abuse against junior employees. According to the charge sheet for his disciplinary hearing, during conversations with the subordinates, he would utter words such as ‘rubbish’, ‘bullsh*t’ and the ‘F’ word.

He is also charged with gross misconduct in that in 2010, he allegedly caused Cebile Makhanya to work 10 hours per fortnight without pay. These are allegations whose veracity is yet to be determined. Another charge against Viloria is that of misconduct in that he demanded and obtained a goat from Winile Mkhumane, under duress, and further used profanity and abusive language against her.

The allegations led to his suspension from his employment pending the investigation and possible disciplinary action.
He was served with a letter of suspension dated February 15, 2016 where he was informed that the company had received notification of serious allegations against him from the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.

He was suspended with full pay and on March 9, 2016 he was notified of the disciplinary charges preferred against him. He was further advised to attend a disciplinary hearing at Musa Sibandze Attorneys to answer to the allegations.
The hearing was scheduled to take place on March 18, 2016 and he was advised to make representations in writing justifying why his suspension should not be converted to one without pay pending the finalisation of the hearing.
