WHY WAS ‘CITY’ KILLED?

MBABANE – The family of murdered socialite, Sipho ‘City’ Mahlalela, is concerned that his killers are still not known.

Daniel Zwane, Mahlalela’s half-brother, said the most saddening part was that it was not yet clear why Mahlalela was killed.
“The manner in which my brother was killed was his destiny. Everybody will die when our time comes. My brother’s time had come; had that not been so, he would not have left his house that night,” he said.

Zwane said the sad incident was all part of God’s plan.
Vusi Sibanyoni said Mahlalela had been a jolly person, who got along well with everybody.
Sibanyoni is Mahlalela’s brother-in-law.

He said they did not understand why the socialite had to die so brutally.
He was also saddened that the deceased left behind three young children. He asked the Msunduza community, where Mahlalela was from, to comfort and support the family in any way possible.

“Time heals and with time, we are going to get over the pain of losing our brother-in-law,” Sibanyoni said.
“God made our brother-in-law bright in complexion for a specific purpose. He wanted people to see the light of God in him.”
About 100 people braved yesterday’s chilly weather to attend the memorial service of the late Mbabane socialite that was held at the Roman Catholic Church.

The late Mahlalela was brutally murdered and buried by unknown people in what was believed to be an attempted robbery, on the night of April 23, 2016, while at Nkoyoyo.

The memorial service began shortly after 2pm, with a Requiem Mass, led by Father Jechonia Thayela Mahazule.
He opened the service with a prayer and thereafter read from the book of Isaiah 25: 6-9.
