MBABANE – A UNISWA student, who was assaulted and paraded naked by a mob after being accused of rape, has been admitted to bail.

Ndumiso Thando Sibandze, a second year Bachelor of Social Science student at the University of Swaziland (UNISWA) was admitted to E15 000 bail by High Court Judge Qinisile Mabuza.

He was, however, ordered to pay E3 000 cash and provide surety for the balance.
Pastor Fanyana Nkambule of United Pentecostal Church at Mfabantfu has since placed his car as surety for the balance.
In his bail application, Sibandze alleged that the complainant was his girlfriend.

He further described the charge against him as a fabrication by the complainant.
Sibandze told the court that he had no idea why the complainant was making all this up as she was his girlfriend.

“I actual fact, the complainant consented to having sexual intercourse with me and she had actually promised me that I should come and see her on this day as she was longing to kiss me. I am advised that since she is above the age of 18 years she can consent to sexual intercourse and even consent to marriage on her own,” submitted the accused.
