BABANE – President of the League of African Churches in Swaziland Bishop Samson Hlatjwako says he is ready and willing to pray for Prime Minister (PM) Sibusiso Dlamini and his spouse, Pastor Joy.

Hlatjwako when interviewed by this publication yesterday, said he was ready and willing to pray for the couple to solve their differences, however, he could not just do so based on what he reads in the national newspaper publications.
This follows that last week, the PM released a statement confirming that due to certain circumstances he was divorcing his spouse.

shocked

This shocked many and in response to this, Hlatjwako said if the premier or Pastor Joy wanted him to pray for them to solve their problems, all they needed to do was indicate by contacting him.
He said as men of the cloth, they prayed for all leaders of the country, however, this did not mean they were praying for the PM and Pastor Joy as they go through their divorce.
He said if the premier or Pastor Joy requested a prayer, they would pray for them. Hlatjwako noted that what the duo was going through was very troubling.

“They are going through a rough patch and if any of them can request that we pray for them, we would do so. We can even visit their residence to pray for them,” he said.
The men of the cloth stated that the prayer would be to help the couple get through the rough patch. Meanwhile, a number of pastors contacted by this publication stated that it was a private matter they were reluctant to delve into.

sentiment

Bishop Nash Shongwe of the Divine Healing Ministries said he could not comment on the matter. This was the same sentiment shared by Reverend Johannes Mazibuko.
“I can’t comment on their divorce. It’s a private matter,” he said.
Dlamini, last week, said the issue of his divorce was a private matter. When confirming the divorce to this publication, the PM said he had hoped that all would be revealed after the court process had been concluded.

“May I take this opportunity to announce to the nation, with great regret, that certain circumstances have occasioned the institution of divorce proceedings against my spouse,” reads the statement in part.
It further stated that the PM trusted that the matter would be treated in an amicable and dignified fashion.
“…we kindly request for our privacy to be respected as we go through the process of divorce,” further reads the statement.

The divorce proceedings against Pastor Joy were filed by the PM’s lawyers on April 1, 2016.
The two were married through civil rites in a ceremony that was solemnised on March 15, 2014 at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre’s main auditorium.

securely

The application for the divorce has been kept under wraps at the High Court and it is believed to be securely kept in the chief justice’s chambers.
The matter has been registered under Case No. 631/2016.
However, this publication has it in authority that the involved parties in particular Pastor Joy has been served by the deputy sheriff of the Hhohho District and according to the summons Pastor Joy (nee Maziya) has been cited as a major female adult currently residing at Nkamanzi in the Manzini district.

In the combined summons Joy, who holds the position of Director of Library Services, has been called upon to file her opposing papers in the event that she disputes or opposes the application.
