MBABANE – The office of the Prime minister had a few departments with only 40 staff members in 1996.

Today the Cabinet under Prime Minister Sibusiso Dlamini consists of over 100 staff members and about 10 departments.
This was viewed as a huge achievement by the PM who was celebrating his 73rd birthday yesterday.

He said due to the number of government ministries and workload, he decided to expand the departments and hire more officers.
The added departments are; Human Trafficking, Security, PPCU, e-government, Firearms Licensing Unit, Smart Partnership, Government Spokesperson office, Economist’s office and NERCHA.

During the birthday party, the PM made a playback of the situation when he took office in 1996 and said he was proud of the way things had turned out over the years.
The Cabinet staff said Dlamini was like a father to them.

Speaking through Principal Secretary Victor Nxumalo, the Cabinet staff said they were aware that some government employees envied them because they could see for themselves that they were under the best leadership in the PM.

“We thank all those who have contributed to your life and we wish you well and praise you for being a good father.”
Nxumalo then presented the PM with gifts that the staff had bought for him.
