TEENAGE GIRL RAPED, KILLED IN COLD BLOOD

MATSAPHA – A teenage girl has been brutally murdered after being raped by her assailant, about 100 metres from the Matsapha Police Camp.

The gruesome incident happened on Sunday but the girl’s body was only discovered on Monday by her family members, in one of the bedrooms of the big house the family lives in. Her underwear was found on the floor, raising suspicions that she was raped before being killed.
The murder is suspected to have happened on Sunday afternoon, after the family had just returned from church.

The deceased, Ntombifuthi Angelina Mndzebele (19), stayed with her family at Mhlane, next to the police camp and Matsapha Evangelical Church.

Her aunt, Nomphumelelo Ntuli, said when they returned from church, the family went to the fields to harvest while Ntombifuthi requested to be excused. Tifu, as the deceased was popularly known, is said to have gone straight to her bedroom.

“When we came back from the fields later in the day, we found Tifu’s bedroom locked and we did not bother her because she was fond of sleeping, even during the day. We went to bed and in the morning, we did not try to wake her up because we all knew that she did not like to be woken up early,” Ntuli said.

She said they continued with their household chores until one of Tifu’s friends, whom she had an appointment with, arrived. They shouted for her but there was no response.

Her bedroom keys were not in the key hole on the door and they tried to look through the hole. It was then that they saw that there was a human being on the bed as it was just next to the door.
