SITEKI – A grieving mother of a teacher, who was found dead inside her family house, is blaming the school for her death, which was said to have been stress-related.

Busisiwe Gama had been with the school for about two years when she succumbed to death. Gama’s   school St Augustine Primary is located approximately 12 kilometres from the Siteki town centre.
Her mother was reluctant to grant an interview as she said the school had left her with an emotional scar that would take time to heal.

According to some of her colleagues, who spoke on condition that their identities were not revealed, she was stressed due to work-related matters and this resulted to her increased blood pressure.
They were reluctant to reveal what could have caused the stress but stated that she had mentioned that she felt unwell and became dizzy after her blood pressure had increased.
However, a family member said: “She had problems with her school administration they were always at loggerheads regarding work and also experienced complications at work.”

The school’s Head teacher, Sifiso Dlamini, only confirmed that they had a teacher who passed away but was reluctant to get into details on the allegations that her death was due to stress related to work.
“Yes, we have lost a teacher who had been with us for over two years but I suggest you talk to her family,” said Dlamini.

Elizabeth, Busisiwe’s mother said she tried to save her daughter’s life only to be informed the following morning by one of her grandchildren that   Busisiwe had  died in her family house.
“A child raised an alarm after finding her in a bad state the previous day in her house and we quickly called an ambulance. She was rushed to Good Shepherd Hospital where she was treated and discharged the same day. Nurses told us that her blood pressure had risen. We returned home and the following day, we found her dead in her  house. Her lifeless body was found by a child.
