MY MOTHER HID MY VIDEO GAMES - DELISA
MBABANE – For someone who aspires to be a software engineer, Delisa Lindelani Dlamini was to make the ultimate sacrifice by giving up playing computer games.
This was if he wanted to pass Form III. He did just that and the sacrifice paid off as he obtained a 92 per cent aggregate. It should be pointed out though that the sacrifice was not of choice as his mum had to hide the video games.
The St Francis High School pupil said he is fond of information technology thus his career aspiration.
“My mum had to hide my playstation. I knew where she hid it but didn’t want to disappoint her because after all she had done that because she had my best interests and, therefore, I continued working hard in my studies,” said Delisa.
He said the only thing his mum allowed him to keep was his cellphone.
“The reason was that I’m at my best of concentration when studying with a bit of music in the background,” he explained. Others find this a distraction.
The smart lad said he would dedicate at least four hours studying even though he did not think he would score so high in the exams. Another motivating factor was that his family had confidence in him. He said his favourite subjects were Mathematics and English Literature.
“Even though I would work hard in my studies, I would find time to unwind with friends who are as dedicated as I am with school,” he said.
