CHRISTIANS CEASE JUDGING EACH OTHER

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

Sir,

May I offer my condolences to all the families who lost loved ones in the accident where the SCOAN guest house collapsed in Nigeria.
This letter is prompted by a statement attributed to Bishop Hlatjwako blasting Bishop TB Joshua and other foreign pastors and churches.

I personally feel that as a kingdom worker the good bishop is not displaying basic biblical understanding of how God works.  I say this because much as God is the one who blesses, He uses conduits through whom those blessings flow; they don’t just drop from the sky direct to us, otherwise there would be no need for churches.

Instead of berating Christians for looking far and wide for blessings, the Bishop should analyse the situation carefully. I have done that and one of my conclusions is that throughout Bible history preachers and believers have always had the culture of traversing cities, towns and continents to preach or hear the Word of God – in the process various miracles and deliverances were performed by the men of God and experienced by and believers.  Other believers travel to Swaziland for miracles.

The other conclusion I have come to is that in Swaziland the culture of looking to foreigners for better services is rife everywhere in our system of living; Government included - in the process we have been fleeced bare as a people and a nation.  Just the other day a doctor was almost hired only to be exposed as bogus.

Back to local pastors – how many of them are perceived as self-serving and living large?  Many have spent thousands advertising dynamic sounding services, taken offerings with the promise of explosive breakthroughs yet believers have come away empty-handed.  But with people like TB Joshua, Pastors Chris, Adeboye and Oyedepo. we have seen miracles happen.  I say let people worship where their faith works for them.  The truth of the matter is that everyone readily justifies the use of foreigners.

The unfortunate incident that happened at SCOAN should not give anyone reason to display what is perceived as jealousy over the people who we have preached and actually achieved the results which are very rare locally.  True believers would rather pray for all who work for the Kingdom and not scoff at unfortunate incidents.

What lessons are we to learn from senior pathfinders? Not just that, a chauvinistic streak is emerging from the Bishop as he thinks women only go there because they are looking for potions to lure men into marrying them – is it only women who go to churches to look for marriage partners, is marriage such a bad thing for that matter?

Mathew 7 should really kick in during such times – who are we to judge? God knows if it is Beelzebub or Himself at work in any church service & as a judge of all He will reveal things when we come before His Throne on that day. In the meantime let us love and serve the Lord with love and respect for each other.

Phindile Weatherson, Mbabane
