SD NEEDS HEALTHY POLITICAL DISCOURSE

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

Sir,

It is not true that Swazis don’t want to hold political dialogues and that some  people are going up and down the streets in protest. The mark of any democratic state is in how free the people are to hold healthy discourse.

I think this is definitely an exaggeration! Those who made this assertion about Swazis don’t understand our frustrations and what we are up to? Have they been paid to spread such false rumours? Who paid them and for what reasons?

What is the true situation on the ground? I am not a political analyst but the true position is that Swazis don’t have money to hold political dialogues! I know that some people may argue as to why we had money to buy expensive cars for ministers while others may contend that we have always had money to hold economic dialogues in the form of Smart Partnership.

I am not interested in arguments, but the truth is that we don’t have money to hold these much needed political dialogues! Who would pay the facilitators considering the fact that we are all facing tough times?

Do we have any volunteers to come to our rescue here? Where is the international community when we need it?

 Peter Sibeko, LUYENGO
