WHY DOESN’T SNAT CARE ABOUT TEACHERS?

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

Sir,

It with disgust that I have decided to write what I don’t like about my organisation that I so dearly love.
The Swaziland National Association for Teachers (SNAT) is a very big organisation that has over the years commanded a high level of respect from teachers, both locally and abroad.

This organisation has established itself as one trade union that was stable until the reign of the current National Executive Committee including those that have just left office.
Those people currently at the helm of SNAT are killing our organisation from within. There is something terribly wrong with our leadership at SNAT, they present themselves as bosses to the teachers who are the real owners of the organisation.

By their actions you can realise that they think that SNAT is something which belongs to them.
They feel they can do as they please with our organisation and it is apparent that these individuals have not the slightest respect for the teachers.

Benefit

Their mission is one, to deplete the resources of the organisation for their own benefit not teachers.
Teachers how much should we suffer? First in the hands of government now in the hands of people we had placed our trust in?
Our hard earned money is abused by the executive left, right and centre. Let us stand up because if this is not corruption then there is no corruption.

Remember teachers when we were on waya waya they told us that they would not help us with anything because when we resolve to engage on strike we knew the consequences of the no work no pay.
Amazingly our issues are never given the priority by these people some are lying idle unattended in the General Secretary’s office.

Outcry

To be honest SNAT ceased a long time ago to be of service to teachers. There is an outcry from all the corners of the country about poor service.
We need to institute a commission of enquiry to unearth all the rot that has been on going in that national office so that we can get our organisation on the right path.

Teachers let us join hands and save ourselves from these wolves who careless about our welfare. Our organisation comes from far and is much bigger than any individuals.

Die hard SNAT Member
