Protecting your mobile phone from thieves

Sir,

I am not in any way attempting to be an instant path-finder in On-line Technology.

Neither do I want to make or send a shiver of fear running down the spines of the many ‘naughty’ brothers and sisters of ours who take perverse pleasure in taking our mobile devices, popularly known as cellphones unnoticeably or without our consent from our bags, pockets or when we have put them on the shop counters and forget to take them when we leave – only to return and realise they are nowhere to be seen.

I’m a ‘pink-collar worker’, as opposed to a white-collar worker.  I am one labourer who does not earn an impressive salary. It is therefore painful to me and others who, like me, are struggling financially, to lose their expensive mobile devices to these ruthless and habitual cellphone thieves. However, the introduction of ‘Norton Mobile Security’ has come to the rescue.

What  I mostly like about this technological advancement is that through Short Message Service (SMS) and Web  (As part of this form of on-line protection), one may find the location of one’s cellphone anywhere around Swaziland, so  it can be found, if it’s lost or stolen.
Interesting, isn’t it?

Protecting your mobile devices against loss or theft is very important, in fact, mainly because we store lots of important stuff on our cellphones such as photos, email, bank information, contacts and the passwords.
This device also prevents strangers from using one’s phone if it’s lost or stolen and even helps one find it.

In addition to helping one to get one’s cellphone back, one can also erase his or her information, in case the cellphone is lost or stolen. Not only stuff on the lost cellphone may be erased, but also any data on the memory card.

What I also like about this protection system is that one can remotely lock one’s lost or stolen cell- phone, to prevent strangers from seeing one’s private information or running one’s mobile bill.
It can happen that your phone was not necessarily stolen but you simply misplaced or lost it, and perhaps somebody happened to find it, there is a mechanism which displays a customisable message to the person who happened to find your cellphone.

On the other hand, Sneak Peak  (Also Web-based), snaps photos of anyone in front of your cellphone, wherever he is or she is, then saves the images.

This is applicable to Webcam devices only. Other applications let you block calls and text messages from  specific people or phone numbers, and  further  lets you identify certain trusted contacts (friends or family) who can send an unlock code to your cellphone.
The device is becoming more and more necessary especially because the cellphones we buy nowadays are expensive and losing one’s gadget can be frustrating.
