An open letter to Shiselweni RA

Sir

The Shiselweni regional administrator and his secretary are failing the Tinkhundla system in the Shiselweni region.

The officials of the departments drafted a strategy of Shiselweni Department Plan to be used to develop the region but up to now the region is falling apart because of the poor administration of the Tinkhundla officials.

In the strategic plan of the region there are submissions from all the officials of the head of sections. The duty of the office of the RA is to implement the submissions from the head of departments.

Renovations

These are some of the failures I have observed in the region, government houses are falling apart since renovations were last done during the era of apartheid.

The infrastructure is deteriorating like the roads. The Gege-Sicunusa road should have been tarred a long time ago but because of the RA office not pushing government to tar these roads, it has still not been tarred. Government has been promising to tar these roads but it appears it has since change its mind.

The youth at various Tinkhundla centres have no projects but surprisingly our government is teaching them on certain projects but when they want funds government runs away.

The region does not have offices and this adds to the failure of the Shiselweni RA. For how long will government continue renting offices for E100 000 per month? Even then, there is no indication that government is behind the construction of the regional offices.

Changed

If Prince Mbilini was still the RA of the region, things would have long changed. The prince loved the region and the community.

Failure to open the Hluti sub-region offices on July 1, 2010 has added to the failure of the RA office in the Shiselweni region. The three ministers who witnessed the failure of the sub-region to open were Benedict Xaba, Chief Mgwagwa and Prince Gcokoma of Tinkhundla.

I think the time has come whereby the PM recommends the abolishing of the regional administrator posts because these RAs are a financial drain to the economy of the country.

What I have noticed with our officials is that they take advantage of the fact that our king is still young.

Our RA was in charge of agriculture in the Shiselweni region but till today he is hiding his skills.

The Tinkhundla system needs to be reviewed as soon as possible because the country will die if government continues keeping redundant officers in office. Bobabe tikhulu are busy crucifying the king by selling plots or land.

They are doing this ignorantly because no one is updating them about the country’s constitution.

RAs should be briefing chiefs on the danger of selling the king’s land. In the Shiselweni region things are bad. Bombers stay with the chiefs. What are they doing to stop this evil behaviour?

In the past one would be told to cross seven chiefs this was a form of punishment. The country is on fire because chiefs are hungry. Nabo boshifu sebayaganga.

Fail

No wonder they fail to discipline their subjects who commit various crimes.

If King Sobhuza II would rise from the dead he would be amazed because before he died he laid down a good foundation for the country but vultures changed his ideas.

If the prime minister and his Cabinet are failing to improve the Tinkhundla system I am available to help them.

Magadey’wile Mdluli

Nhlangano

Mdluli,

Please be advised that the core function of the Regional Administration office is to act as a facilitator for development pro-grammes that are due for implementation within local communities by sectoral ministries. The department does not, on its own, hold nor control funds for multi-faceted tasks of government such as infrastructural development. The author is therefore advised to direct his comments and/or queries to the relevant ministry for the appropriate action.

Paul Dlamini

Regional Administrator
