ARM YOURSELF WITH KNOWLEDGE, AVOID BEING LED ASTRAY

Sir,

Hosea 4: 6 says; “My people perish for lack of knowledge.” There is a saying, ‘oil and water don’t mix’. But it’s not only oil and water that don’t mix. Being a Christian, it is important to arm one’s self with knowledge to avoid being led astray by the wiles of the devil. Nowadays it is not uncommon to find Christians who believe that satan doesn’t exist, or that the theory of evolution is somehow compatible with the Word of God, or who partake in traditions like Easter or Christmas, wrongly believing that these are Christian traditions.

Research

But a bit of research will actually reveal that Easter and Christmas are actually pagan traditions which became incorporated into Christianity when the Roman empire converted to Christianity and incorporated many of their pagan customs into their new religion.  This was perhaps due to the fact that there are some similarities between Christianity and pagan religions. The ancient Egyptian religion of light, for example, also taught that Horus (the sun god) was conceived supernaturally, died and was resurrected before ascending to heaven. Mithras (or sol) was the Roman equivalent of Horus and just like the goddess Isis, the mother of Horus, Mithras’ mother Cybele was also considered to be the ‘mother goddess’ who was also referred to as being the ‘mother of god’. This belief found its way into the Roman Catholic faith, where Mary is still venerated as being the ‘queen of heaven’ and ‘mother of God’. But the Bible is clear about the issue of goddess worship (Jeremiah 44: 16-17).

Worship

Mary may have given birth to Jesus, who was God in human form, but she was a mere peasant woman who was also created by God. She was not a goddess nor was she the mother of God. Like Easter or Christmas, goddess worship is another pagan tradition whose origins can be traced back to the ‘mother and son’ cult of ancient Babylon, where Semiramis was considered to be the mother of the resurrected ‘sun god’ Nimrod (Tammug). In fact, this so-called ‘mother goddess’ is also called Ishtar, from where the name ‘Easter’ originated. Yoga is another pagan tradition which is practiced by many Christians, thinking that it is simply a form of exercise which is intended to improve the well being of the body and mind. But again, a bit of research reveals that yoga is actually a form of Shiva worship and is said to have been invented by the Hindu deity Shiva himself. Shiva is often associated with the goddess Kali, and is usually depicted as having a third eye on his forehead, and what not many people are aware of is that yoga is actually intended to enable its adherents to achieve a so-called ‘state of godhood’ by opening their ‘third eye chakra’ through the various poses.

In fact, even some scientists are of the view that the pineal gland, which some people equate with the third eye, can be activated through the use of certain pharmaceutical products such as DMT, the so-called ‘spirit molecule’. Again parallels can be drawn between the third eye and the story of the serpent and the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden in Genesis 3. Could this also be what is being referred to in Revelation 13: 16? The Bible is very clear, what communication can light have with darkness? I would therefore encourage Christians to read their Bibles and see what Hosea 8 and 9 says.
