GOVT’S BRUTAL NATURE

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

Sir,

This political experiment known as the Tinkhundla System of Government continues to expose its true colours as the pressure for political reforms intensifies. It’s true brutal nature and the lengths it will go to preserve itself at the expense of the people is laid bare for all to see. We are a disgrace to the world.

Changes

History abounds with examples of regimes that have resisted calls of the masses for legitimate changes that have experienced epic crashes. But in Eswatini some still hold desperately onto myopic convictions that ours is a unique case. Government has, amidst all the voices pleading for dialogue, to maintain an iron fist by violently stifling any voices of dissent. After all, that has been put in the public domain about the country’s  authorities’ aversion to those with divergent political views and the extreme extents they are willing to go to ensure that those people are held accountable, I think they have completely lost the plot. They have, in essence, lost all moral authority and credibility to lead this nation. This nation, its resources and all who live in it, are nobody’s property. The people must be given their right to self-determine and express how they want to be governed, and the resources must be for the collective good.

Havoc

The arrest of Colani Maseko was ill-timed. As we wait to see what unfolds in the courts, security forces personnel continue to wreak havoc on people who are calling for the release of Maseko. The brutality is continuing and in some instances, it is seemingly getting worse. The State continues to test the patience of the people even after scores have died with no answers and no arrests.
