DO WE REALLY HAVE TO BEG FOR HELP?

Sir,

I don’t know if I am the only one noticing what is happening around us, but if not I don’t understand why people are doing nothing about it. When growing up I was told that education is the key to success, I was told that without education my future will be doomed. And I decided to keep my head up and go after that one thing I knew would help me build a better foundation for my future and that was education.

Believed

It was what we all wanted, what we all believed in, what we all hoped for and we wanted to make both the world and our parents proud. We wanted to also share the same knowledge with the next generation after us, so that they also do the same. However, that is not the case anymore. Today, I don’t know if I still believe that education is the key to success. So much has changed and there is nothing we can do about it because money has become the roots of every tree. Thousands of us are sitting at home because our parents don’t have the sum of money needed to take us back to school. The money demanded is too much for our parents to pay and there is no one helping us. I fear that in the next coming years, a million of children won’t make it to secondary or high school.

Money

Not because they don’t want to, but because there is no money to settle them in. Education won’t have the same definition we grew up knowing, not anymore because money has destroyed and ruled over us. And as a result we should seek help. We have nowhere else to go, should we be seeking jobs or should we be in school? Is education still important as we were told before? But why are many of us at home not in school? Do we really have to beg for your help when you can see that we really need it? Is this the end of us? As much as I would like to be in school, I don’t speak for only myself but for all those like me who wish they were back at school.

If you are there and you know you can help another child go back to school, don’t just sit there and do nothing when you can actually do something. God made us to help one another, so don’t grow a wicked heart, don’t be selfish and don’t be greedy; just help us if you can. If you say we are the future generation, then don’t do us more wrong and more harm because the seed you plant in us will remain forever. So if you turn your backs on us at the time we need your help the most, don’t blame us for what we will become and possess.
