NATION YEARNING FOR JUSTICE

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

Sir,

Many countries across the globe have found themselves governed by strong systems of corruption. Eswatini is now among the most corrupt countries on the African continent. Therefore, we all have a country to save. We’d be foolish and naive to believe this is government’s baby.

Expose

We need people who will, without hesitation, expose corruption because it is now clear that the nation is yearning for justice. One could easily deduce a sense of despondency brought about by inaction on cases of corruption where suspects have been hauled before courts but with very few convictions.

Corruption

In Eswatini, there are many cases of corruption that are under investigation, with a huge number of them submitted for prosecution, but very few of them have made it to court. As a result, the corruption watchdog is currently perceived as a toothless bulldog.
Government seriously needs to rebuild confidence in the State’s ability to fight corruption. It is also high time that all relevant stakeholders invoke their powers because corruption in the country has gone out of hand. The abuse of State resources is among several other corrupt practices that we have allowed to form part of our culture yet stands as one of the biggest drains to national coffers. We need to fight, control and eliminate all forms of corruption with punitive measures to protect our resources and restore economic stability.
