TIME AND OPPORTUNITIES

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

Sir,

Kindly allow me to convey these words of wisdom from an old man to batukulu. I hope they’ll be useful to our nation. My dearest grandson! My youthful years have advanced and I will very soon vacate to the world of our silent fathers. It would be sinful of me not to pass on the words of wisdom that were once shared to me by your great-grandfather.

Joined

It has been 18 years since you joined us in this world, oh such a world perceived and judged by men. Narrowly, it has been perceived as a cruel world, a place of injustices and inequalities; a home of grudges and avenges and so on. But what I’ve noted is: it is only a handful who have been luckily favourable enough to perceive it as a world of joy and happiness. My dearest grandson! It is now that I agree with your great-grand father’s words when he wisely told me, “This world is a world of Time and Opportunities. Oh hear these words my grandson. I have lived through them and they are a weapon and sometimes a shield of life. This is a world of time and opportunities among other dimensions of life. When time is available, so are opportunities.

Opportunities

Time and opportunities are somehow directly proportional in nature, my dearest grandson! If you pay quality respect and commitment to the time you have in this world, so will opportunities in you. As time takes toll on you, it carries along with it opportunities because the two are a matching pair of shoes. The sad part is, time fades away and elapses, so do opportunities. Grandson, you will grow up and taste your bitter-sweet in this world, sometimes willingly and commonly forceful by circumstances challenging your life. Some of these perceptions and conclusions may steer out positively and sometimes negatively. But what is worth noting is; if you subscribe to negativity, your life will be affected negatively too and vice- versa. l, for one have survived all the earthquakes, tsunamis and storm surges of this world with guidance from these words which were conveyed to me. Most often, we hardly accept defeat and look so long at what could have been and what isn’t.
