EASED PARTIAL LOCKDOWN

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

Sir,

I am very much disappointed by government excluding other businesses in the easing of the partial lockdown. This strategy will not help the country and its people in the long run.

Almost all the businesses that government has allowed to operate do their business operations during the day.
What about the other businesses like cellphone shops, salons and car wash operations, among others? Why are they not given permission to operate? Why not allow them to operate at least three days per week?

Rent

How will the people who run the aforementioned businesses pay rent and what will they eat if they continue to be excluded?
They also have expenses and bills to take care of like all other businesspeople in the country.

What really informed government to exclude them in the list of businesses that have been allowed to operate?
Government is not being fair on these businesses because they also contribute to the economy by paying their taxes and whatever else is due from them.

I am very much disappointed by all the people who are supposed to be representing the masses for allowing this to happen. They should have at least asked government what informed this outrageous decision.

Is the Government of Eswatini only for big companies and not for small companies like the ones I have mentioned?
How will these businesses survive if this thing is allowed to continue?

Caring

Or is it a case of government not caring about what will happen to these businesses and the people who are able to survive and earn a living because of them?

I am asking all these questions because I am really disappointed in government and hurting at the same time.
It is my view that all businesses in the country should be treated fairly because they too can adhere to the laid down guidelines. This is totally not fair!

Yours truly
