LEADERSHIP IS ACTION, NOT POSITION

Sir,

Scholars of the science and art of leadership posit that there are three types of leaders:  Those who make things happen; those who watch things happen; and those who wonder what happened.

Those who make things happen are those who influence for timely decisions; those who watch things happen are those who are indecisive; and those who wonder what happened are those who are out of touch with reality, people, events, situations and circumstances.
Leadership is understanding people and involving them to help you do a job. That needs all of the good characteristics like integrity, dedication of purpose, selflessness, knowledge, skill, implacability as well as a determination not to accept failure.

Leadership is action, not position. When a leader reaches a decision point, he makes timely decisions. The beginning of leadership is a battle for the hearts and minds of the people. Leadership must be based on goodwill.

Goodwill does not mean posturing and, least of all, pandering to the mob. It means obvious and wholehearted commitment to helping people.

Strange as it sounds, great leaders gain authority by giving it away. Men and women make history and not the other way round.  In periods, where there is no leadership; society stands still and collapse becomes imminent.
Progress occurs when courageous, skillful leaders seize the opportunity to change things for the better.

When all is said and done the greatest quality required in a leader is ‘decision making’. He/she must be able to issue clear orders and have the drive to get things done. Indecision and hesitation are fatal in any leader and criminal. Bold decisions give the best promise of success. Not to decide is to decide.
To take no action is to take undecided action.

Now is the time to provide leadership to this nation. This nation needs good decision-makers. This nation needs strategic leaders and strategic decision-makers with incisive vision for the future of this peaceful nation.
Without such elements, this peaceful nation will be a nation of extremists and failures. No patriot wants to take that route. People want leadership and decisions now.

This nation needs leaders who are prepared to grasp the greatest opportunity in history - to create an age of peace, prosperity and freedom and economic revitalisation.
