LETTER TO AGRICULTURE MINISTER

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

Sir,

Minister, why is the public not receiving receipts when paying for veterinary services?  We take pets and other animals for vaccinations, to be treated for illnesses and are made to pay E100 at both the Manzini and Mbabane veterinary clinics but we never receive receipts upon payment. How then does government account for these monies?

Who is benefitting? Are we supposed to be paying for these services or not because we are disbelieving that the service is probably free and someone else is pocketing these funds?  Please advise the nation on the status of the government veterinary services, if they are free or not and why we do not get receipts.

Losing

If we are meant to pay, then government is losing a huge amount of revenue from this department due to accountability of funds as there is no record of payments received.
This is uncalled for as all animals have to be vaccinated, therefore, you can imagine how many E100 get unaccounted for.  Please take action.

Regards

NOTE: This letter was emailed to the minister of Agriculture who responded by calling and said he appreciated that the writer had brought this matter to his attention. He said as a ministry they would look into it because they did not tolerate corruption.

He further said should the matter continue, those affected should report it to the Anti-Corruption Commission, the police or at the ministry.
He said members of the public should be aware that the only medication that came at no cost was the dogs’ rabies vaccination. All other medication came at a fee and officers at all veterinary offices should issue receipts for all services paid for.
