THINK BEFORE YOU ACT

Sir,

If there’s one tremendous gift I would love to have, it is the gift of knowing when and how to make the right decisions.
In all honesty no one wants to make mistakes, but as we are always faced with the challenge of decision making in our daily lives, making mistakes seems inevitable.

Going through life knowing that to err is human is one thing that makes the task of decision-making a taunting one.
So, in a bid to cope with the depressing feelings which come with erring, humanity became all philosophical and religious and coined quotes and songs. This gives you the feeling that making a mistake is not bad after all.

Finances

Consequently, to cope with life and to minimise our mistakes, we now have financial advisors because of our inability to handle our own finances. Some have personal trainers, career counselors, and even relationship coaches.

We hire these people because we do not trust our own decision-making abilities. We believe there needs to be someone with the expertise to help us make informed decisions. And the funny thing here is that these professionals we hire make easy money out of our weaknesses. In actuality, there are a lot of people out there who pay for ignorance.

Advise

What does someone who does not have anybody to advise them in the domains that range from finances, to the romantic, to the professional and the gastronomic do to make the right decisions?
It seems we were not entirely blessed with the art of knowing the right thing to do when faced with a particular situation.
More so, we struggle to realise where we’ve erred.  It appears the best way to deal with our mistakes is to track back to the sources of our problems rather than focusing on the problem itself.

Often times, when we’ve unwittingly done something we tend to focus on the result of that mistake – cry about it, mourn about it, curse the universe and ask heaven to have mercy on us. It turns out the solution to avoid always mopping the floor is to apply the well-known life philosophy of ‘think before you act’.
Always putting your mind around the repercussions of your actions remains the best tactic, but for some reason we seem lazy to apply that simple life rule.
Here is a quick mention from something that affects our daily lives; relationships.

Whatever form of relationship problem we encounter, we’re guilty of making assumptions in haste, we lose our nerves, at the same time we’re timid to speak from the heart and with all these put together, mistakes are inevitable.

Tip

As a quick tip, we need to fall out of love with lies, insecurities and instabilities and fall in love with the truth, consistency, stability and speaking from the heart.
Some people will always tell us to take risks which in itself raises the risk of making mistakes, and if you take risks you need not to be scared of the scars in your life because each scar will hold a worthy life-time lesson.

Yes, making bad decisions is part of the routine of life, but not to realise our bad decisions and where we made them is a sign of lack of maturity and confidence. We ought to be decisive, always!
