LOVE IS EVIL?

Sir,

Allow me to scribble once again as you settle calmly for your daily coffee. Today I stand beside this altar carrying the most valuable and biggest basket written 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. Inside the basket are names of all human beings tortured, used and abused under the name of love.

Wrong perceptions and stereotypes bemused our brothers and sisters, made them settle for less whereas they had all what it takes to claim the first spot. My mind has been left clouded with so many questions whether love is evil or not.

Equality

Back in the days men used to have the upper hand pertaining to relationship issues but today we say gender equality is key. I still fail to understand how women adjusted and adapted to all the ill-treatments they got from their husbands. We grew up knowing that as a woman, it was a taboo leaving a loveless man. Back then wise women had been labelled failures and quitters while in actual fact they where true heroes who stood up for themselves. I still applaud to all those responsible individuals who took courage to value themselves over loveless relationships. As for me I believe sometimes one has to forget about what the world believes and focus on what’s best for him or her.

Meaning

Maybe love is indeed evil, spell it backwards, ‘Evol.’ Love has made the strongest the weakest and the wisest the foolest. I never read with meaning when love books said love is blind up until today where I see mortuaries fully shelved with female bodies lying helplessly.

All their dreams frozen in mortuary shelves, what a shame on the black continent. The red loam soil keeps on swallowing the richest bodies of innocent women who were told to follow their hearts and love to the fullest. Unfortunately love was too much for them, love conquered them right where they thought they had it under control. Love is evil!

If God really wanted us to follow our hearts maybe he would have given the heart two eyes. We sometimes fight the battle between our heart and mind but today I say my sister fight that battle till the end before you even try to settle for anything. Perhaps the phrase ‘love is blind’ is true; how does one hears from the newspapers how another woman was killed but still fail to stand up for herself against a cruel man? I don’t want to touch on the issue of those already ill-treated and under abuse. My beautiful sister, the learned say; you beat me once I blame you but when you beat me for the second time I blame myself.
The sad part about love is that it is like a ceramic dish, once broken the pieces are never mended nor fit normally.

The point I am driving to is, maybe there was love at first sight but once he breaks you know that love is exhausted. Don’t wait for sticks and stones to break your bones because that may be the end of you. My sister it’s never too late to say, ‘No you can’t treat me that way’. Take full responsibility for yourself or nobody will.

Love was meant to heal, love was meant to unite, love was meant to reshuffle and mend all broken souls but today love does the opposite. Judging from what God said, love others as you love yourself; in short do what you would appreciate being done to you. Well, I see hell upon all those misusing love.
