HAVE WE BECOME A VIOLENT SOCIETY?

 Sir,

Thank you for allowing me space in your newspaper to raise a growing concern that I have.
There have been several stories reported in the media about men assaulting or even murdering their partners. To me this means that we are living in a cruel world where a person is not scared to just grab any kind of weapon and plant it in the chest of their lover.

This is not happening only in relationships but even among friends as we have heard stories of people killing each other after having enjoyed drinks together.

Killing

Why are we killing each other? Why have we become so angry and intolerant? In yesteryears, every member of society knew that in order to avoid violence they just had to do one thing, walk away.

Why can’t a man walk away whenever he feels him and his wife are not in agreement? Nowadays we even have men who kill their wives in front of their children. Imagine the trauma that these children go through having witnessed blood oozing from their mothers?

Greed

We have become a society that is full of greed, arrogance and all we care about is self-importance with disregard for the next person. The battle against domestic violence is serious. I implore all people out there to always speak out because at times incidents of domestic violence can be avoided by just talking to someone.

A lot of women eventually died because they kept quiet even when they could see the anger in their husbands and boyfriends.
The women felt embarrassed to share their pain with their friends or church members.

Even relatives can be helpful, just pick one that you feel comfortable with and share your pain. Our government can also assist in dealing with this anger in our society by making the laws stiff enough so that those found guilty are severely punished. I am pleading with everyone who is reading this, let us stop the anger in our society!
