SA DECLARES WAR AGAINST AFRICA

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

 Sir,

Kindly allow me to address the atrocities and crimes against humanity that are currently happening in South Africa under the guise of xenophobia. I have watched and listened to the recent news on the so-called xenophobic attacks launched by South Africans to other fellow Africans. I feel there should be a line that xenophobia should never cross - a line that defines an act of war against other countries. Xenophobia is defined as a ‘dislike of or prejudices against people from other countries’ (Oxford Dictionary).

The recent news are appalling and disheartening though and one wonders where the line will be drawn; and when will we as Africans put an end to this ethnic cleansing and murder of fellow Africans in South Africa. Foreign registered trucks and cars are being torched, foreign-owned business entities have been looted and foreigners have been murdered (set alight, shot) in front of cheering crowds.

Disturbing

I have watched a very disturbing video, recently, that is circulating on social media of an African man set alight in broad daylight and in front of a multitude of spectators in South Africa. Another video that comes to mind is of another African man who was bitten and stoned with boulders in the guise of xenophobia by other fellow Africans.

Is it just me or is there someone else who is tired of this. When will Africa rise against this act of war? Our fellow brothers and sisters who are in South Africa are living in constant fear for their lives and evidence has shown that indeed they are being treated and slaughtered like animals and the entire continent is silent.

Forced

One is forced to wonder; don’t we have South African business entities operating outside of South Africa? Don’t we have South African registered trucks travelling outside of South Africa? Don’t we have kombis travelling outside of South Africa? Don’t we have South African airplanes flying outside of South Africa? Don’t we have South African diplomats staying and working outside of South Africa? Don’t we have South Africans living and staying outside of South Africa? Is xenophobia only a South African condition that only affects South Africans?

Attack

I have read the call from Nigerians for Boko Haram to attack South Africa, and I thought to myself who can actually blame them?
I am not calling for any violence against anyone but until South African owned entities in other countries are grounded, and South Africa shutdown, this ethnic cleansing and this war on Africans, disguised as xenophobia, will continue. Until South Africans learn the lesson, bitterly if need be, that human life no matter its origin is sacred and that South Africans cannot exist alone, this barbarism and inhuman behaviour against fellow humans will continue.

Support

I was very happy and I totally support the Zambian Football Association’s decision to call off their game against Bafana Bafana that was scheduled for Saturday September 7, 2019. It was very strange for a people and a country that had disliked or prejudiced against people from other countries to organise a game to play with people from Zambia. I actually call on other countries, sports federations to follow Zambia’s decision.

Disqualifying the South African rugby national team from participating in the upcoming world cup tournament would be a good start. This is also not to excuse or support any illegal dealings and illegal immigration by foreigners in South Africa. The South African Government can deal with such illegal persons decisively without crossing the boundaries of the law.
