TAXING THEM TILL THEY BLEED

 Sir,

I am starting to feel like George Orwell, when he penned his masterpiece, Animal Farm; he had our wealthy yet poor country as his storyline.

My feeling is that government may have better ideas of how best they can pilot this ship of economic recovery but the only way I can advise is to help improve the lives of the marginalised and poor emaSwati which currently is not happening.
Honestly, the decision to tax people hard until they bleed will not work.

If you tax the poor until they have no food in their pantries, this country will be doomed.
Listening to the Budget Speech presented recently, it pained my heart to hear that priority has been given to taxing the people.
It makes me bleed to think that people will be taxed the little that they earn.

Earn much

It is a fact that most of our citizens do not earn much and life is expensive.
And then we tell the world that we are a peaceful loving country, instead of telling them we are entering the era of Stalin where a pint of milk will cost more than our net pay.
I wonder where is the heart in the echelon of power, where is the heart in the churches as they sit in first pews?

God come down and wash away our pain. See how your people are trodden mercilessly.
See how lavishly they spend the little we have. See how corrupt, monopolistic, nepotistic and emetic they get.

Money is not a root of evil but our livelihood. I wonder how the country is going to cut the high unemployment rate when the only investors we entice are cheap labourers who are in the slave trade and only bank their moneys in their houses.
To survive we need the money, which is why taxing us hard makes us worse off.
