4 DAYS LATE BUT ON TIME!

Sir,

In the book of John we have a list of seven miracles performed by Jesus. Each of these miracles makes clear the point that it’s only the Son of God who can do such miracles! The seventh miracle is the pinnacle and it is recorded in John 11.

Lazarus, a good friend of Jesus, was dead. Jesus had been notified to come quickly by Lazarus’ sisters, Mary and Martha, but Jesus continued to do his teaching and working for two more days before he started for the home of Lazarus in Bethany.

When Jesus finally arrived in Bethany, Lazarus had been in the tomb for four days. His body had already begun to decompose. The family of Lazarus was long past having hope. Lazarus was already dead, buried and his grave was sealed.

Confronts

In verse 20 we come face to face with a deeply grieving Martha. She confronts Jesus; “Lord, if you had been here my brother would not have died.” By the way, Jesus did not just miss the opening song or the obituary but He missed the whole funeral. In Martha’s mind, Jesus was very late. He was four days late!
Dear reader, in this life no one is immune to trials. There will be times when we feel Jesus is very late to intervene in our situation.

Prayer

We pray but it will seem as if our prayer will never be answered. We find ourselves in distress over finances, relationships within the family, health and many other problems. In such times it will seem as if God has turned a deaf ear on your cry. Things can even go from very bad to worse and seem as if there is no visible way out.

At such a time, many will have a feeling that God has waited too long and unbelief and hopelessness rise. This is when satan will whisper the lie that he always whispers in the spiritual ear of everyone in distress; ‘it’s over and there is nothing that God can or will do about it now’. If he can get you to give up on God, then he has accomplished his goal.

Let me give you assurance; even when you think Jesus is four days late know for sure that He is still on time. God’s time is not ours. God may not answer or deliver you when you expect him to.

He may not give you the answer you need until you think it’s far too late but remember, God’s answer has resurrection power with it and He is always on time.
Never give up hope. Even when it seems hopeless God is in control. He has the power to resurrect your life once again and bring deliverance and victory. He may not answer until all hope is gone and there seems to be no way out but He will surely answer.

Resurrection

Remember the story of Job, a man who lost everything and almost died himself, yet God spoke resurrection power into Job’s circumstances and his end was far greater than his beginning. God knows how to lift you up and bring great deliverance to your life. He knows how to speak resurrection to your circumstances of death. Even when you think He is late know that He is still on time.
