LET US INVEST IN OUR ARTS

Sir,

As the Kingdom of Eswatini, do we have programmes which regulates airplays in our electronical media houses?

Whose job is it to do that? Is it the Ministry of Sports’ Culture and Youth Affairs or ACASWA or even SWAMA?
Do we have people in our stations - let it be radio or television - who are librarians or producers who have to hunt for music?
I think this government should work on adding programmes like royalties in our arts industry, that would boost our economy as far as the arts sector is concerned.
Our emaSwati artists are moving out of the country to search for greener pastures because the only money they make here at home is from gigs which also are not a common thing in the country and also they take time to pay.
We have artists, who, when they hit the RSA art scene, blossomed and were now able to buy themselves cars, houses etc.

Uplift

If we don’t look into programmes which are to uplift our artistswe as a country we will remain with no citizens. Let’s utilise the Parliament for such motions not as an income resource.
Our MPs should not go there to make friends and laugh but work for the future of Eswatini.

We are quick to blame our citizens when they do not return from their studies abroad, when they decide to seek pastures there.
Our local artists are very much talented, but the government and organisations like ACASWA and SWAMA are a waste of resources because they don’t seem to serve their intended purposes. Minister Bulunga, I task you Honourable.

If we can’t do that, let’s forget First World status, maybe in the next life but not in this lifetime, truth be told.
Art is the only key in eradicating poverty in Eswatini or the world. Let us invest in that as a kingdom or we will forever be a shadow of RSA.

Thank you Mr Editor
