COP SAVES GIRL’S LIFE

Sir,

I decided to spend this Christmas in Pigg’s Peak. I left Manzini and cannot even recall the number of police roadblocks, camera speed traps and randomly placed visible policing along the way. There were many to a point of irritation, yet consoling to know they were keeping drink-drivers off the road and speeding motorist which spoke to my safety. I arrived safely at the Pigg’s Peak Hotel and enjoyed some drinks near the poolside. There was a DJ playing music and they had organised a dance competition with a cash prize next to the pool.
The young teens displayed dance moves that would have made Michael Jackson seem old-fashioned. An elderly European increased the prize money and he took to the challenge with a very old style dance move.

Stampede

This caused a frenzy and stampede as everybody wanted to see the spectacle he was causing. When he finished and the frenzy was over it was discovered that a small girl had drowned. She was pulled from the pool and a big fellow, whom I later discovered was a policeman started to administer CPR oo the lifeless little body. There were no vital signs and the eyes had turned to glass. The policeman relentlessly continued for about two minutes, which felt like hours. The next moment a cough was heard and the girl started breathing. To witness death and then life being brought back before my eyes will always remain in my memory for the rest of my life.

After reviving the girl the police officer modestly and humbly left the scene. I absolutely commend the police for their Christmas duties and saving lives on the road as well as bringing this small girl back to life. The tragedy of losing a child on Christmas day would have brought sadness to the girl’s extended family forever during Christmas. I do not know if the police officer was on or off duty but thank you to the Royal Eswatini Police Service. You guys are the best.
