UNANSWERED QUESTIONS

Sir,

Children have a natural tendency of being curious and asking a lot of questions. Asking questions is a part of learning. Even adults tend to be curious about the things which they find interesting and will often seek detailed information about those things. But in order to fully understand something, we need to have all the information related to it. If you don’t have all the information, you will not have a full understanding and will, therefore, not reach a final conclusion (or get any answers). For example, you know that petrol is flammable when you put a flame to it. But if you are not certain about what will happen you apply a flame, then you are merely speculating. In other words, your idea is merely a theory and not a proven fact.

Instead of providing definitive evidence for speculative ideas, most theories often provide more questions than answers, such as the theory of evolution. While adepts of science consider the idea that life ‘evolved’ from ‘primordial soup’ to be indisputable fact, there are many questions which challenge that idea which remain unanswered. If life is merely the result of a ‘miraculous’ combination of factors which resulted in the formation of primordial soup, which then came to life, why is it that in this day and age of technology and scientific advancement, this phenomenon has not been replicated in a science laboratory? Surely, with all the scientific knowledge and technology available to us, we should at least be able to create simple bacterial life forms – from inorganic material – by now.

After all, we still have all the necessary ‘ingredients’ on earth which supposedly made life possible in the first place. When can we expect to see man-made life forms?
Theories, by their speculative nature, are subject to constant change and re-formation. Evolution scientists once seemed certain that ‘modern humans’ descended from ‘ape-like’ creatures, which also descended from other apes and mammals. However, everyone knows that there are still apes and other mammals in the wild which have remained unchanged for thousands of years!
