HE MADE THEM MALE, FEMALE

Sir,

Science tells us that everything in the universe is made up of atoms which consist of positively and negatively charged particles, vibrating around a nucleus. But some people are also aware that the positivity and negativity of atoms is not unique to atoms. It can also be found throughout nature itself. There is hot and cold, there is strong and weak, there is heavy and there is light, there is good and evil and there is male and female. The Bible tells us that God made all living things and He made them male and female. As everyone knows, this is how living things procreate and multiply. But even though males and females are equal in the eyes of the Lord, there are obvious differences which tell us that He created them to fulfill specific roles. These roles can be seen in nature itself. Perhaps the most obvious of these is that of motherhood. It is the female of most species whose body has been designed to carry and cater for their offspring.

But humans, having the capacity to defy natural laws, have created a society in which gender is becoming irrelevant, especially when it comes to roles which have traditionally been fulfilled by men, such as defence, construction or engineering. In fact, gender is becoming completely irrelevant all together as people in some countries are now even encouraged to choose the gender they feel comfortable being, regardless of the physical sex of their birth, and it is no longer rare to find men with female features like large breasts and smooth skin, or females with male features like facial or body hair. Perhaps this is also part of the new global ‘consciousness’ (or new age) which some people talk about, in which Christianity becomes the enemy of ‘progress’. While men and women are equal in God’s eyes, it is obvious that men are more physically suited for certain roles, such as being professional soldiers, for example, even though some women might also be capable of doing the job.

Perhaps the reason why some of the more ‘radical’ elements of the global feminist movement are so determined to see women doing the jobs which are physically demanding - and are therefore dominated by men - is because they feel compelled to challenge the idea that females are the (physically) ‘fairer’ sex who cannot do what men can do. They are of the view that women can do anything that men can do and do it even better. However, it is worth remembering that in nature, only the fairer sex has the ability to become pregnant and produce milk for their offspring. When people decide to rebel against the natural order of things, are they also prepared to accept the consequences?
