RESCUE US FROM SOME ASIAN ILL-TREATMENT!

The 11th Parliament members have been sent packing home.

I and many of my countrymen still have questions on the fate of the probe which was set up to investigate the illegal influx of foreign nationals. Below is a letter I sent to the editor a while back. The concerned nation  still need sanswers on the Progress of the probe as well as of those implicated in the illegal settling of many of these aliens in our Kingdom. Since the failures in the recent parliament have gone home...what will be the fate of this unfinished probe? Will it gather dust, as usual like so many past probes?  I am deeply concerned and perturbed by the treatment emaSwati receive from some of the so-called investors from the East, commonly known as Asians - mostly those who run fast food outlets and cellphones and or accessories, especially those based in the bustling hub of Eswatini, Manzini.

shoddy treatment

Seemingly, customer complaints even to the police seem not to deter the spiteful and shoddy treatment of customers are being subjected to by some of these aliens. I am in no way being xenophobic or inciting locals against these nationals, but some or these ‘investors’ do not know any A or Z of something called ‘customer care’ and they seem to subscribe to the ‘take it or leave’ motto whenever you complain about poor customer service. I have had numerous altercations - not only yours truly, but scores, if not hundreds of emaSwati - with many of these traders.  As recent as last Sunday, I ventured into one fast food outlet to buy myself some muffins. I had to wait patiently as the one behind the counter conversed animatedly with a group of his countrymen, without even bothering to notice a customer waiting to be served. I pointed out my choice which was in an already opened package with others. He refused and told me to take the one nearest the opening. I patiently lectured him on my right to choose as a customer what I want because its my money I am to spend. He arrogantly told me to ‘suka’ (go away) and go by where they will sell me my choice.

I threatened to report his outrageous customer treatment to relevant authorities and he nonchalantly and smugly told me ‘to go ahead’. I left with my tail neatly tucked between my legs, seething with anger. I am not the only liSwati to be subjected to such and worse treatment from these brothers from the East. Some emaSwati who have threatened to report ill-treatment at the hands of these clowns to the police, have even been told succinctly clear to go ahead ‘because  I don’t fear the police’! I rue the day whosoever opened the floodgates and allowed these aliens to run cheap businesses in this country. They are arrogant, practice poor hygiene in some of their shops and as I alluded earlier, the catch word ‘customer care’ doesn’t exist in their vocabulary. As for their audacious attitude of not caring about law enforcement I just cannot help but raise the question: Have they captured our law enforcement agencies?
