HOW BUHLENI PLOTS SHOULD BE DISTRIBUTED

Sir,

Responding to the article written on last week’s Times of Swaziland SUNDAY on pages 8-9, which was about the over 1000 free residential plots at Buhleni and 200 commercial plots.
I am from Mayiwane Inkhundla and I am interested in giving advice on how to grant the plots evenly and fairly.

First of all, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development must recognise the six chiefdoms of Mayiwane Inkhundla by giving at least 100 plots to the members of each chiefdom (Buhleni, Herefords, Mkhuzweni, Mkhweli, Fasini and Mavula).
The plots could be 600 in total, and the remaining residential 400 plots should be open to every liSwati to buy. Buhleni town is under Mayiwane Inkhundla, therefore the town belongs to the six chiefdoms under the Inkhundla.

a good move

The ministry must also recognise the people from these chiefdoms through giving them the plots especially those who applied. The recognition of the chiefdoms can be a good move towards kwakha bunye nekubambisane kulemiphakatsi.

I also advise the ministry to be careful when giving the plots because it can be totally unfair to give plots to more than two family members.
I believe that people of Tincatsavaneni already have homes in town and what can only be done to them is kuhleliswa and I also believe that the town would be developing towards Mkhuzweni, Ntabinezimpisi, Fontotje and Magengeni in future.

Another thing is, when planning for roads, the ministry should make sure that the lanes are made 3x3 or 4x4 to avoid traffic congestion in future.
We don’t want the town to be like others in the country with thin roads.

Lastly, the ministry must make sure that the portfolio committee is advised about the upcoming development at Buhleni so that they can meaningfully contribute to it.
