ISSUE OF PERMITS UNFAIR TO SWAZIS

 Sir,

Kindly publish my letter of concern in your widely read newspaper. We have been reading about how students are having difficulties with study permit applications at the South African High Commission. I sympathise with the students.

I would like to highlight another frustration at the SAHC. They are currently not processing any critical skills work permits or relatives’ permits. This is the situation since August 2017.

I know there is an investigation going on for general work permits but critical work permits are a different category.
I know people who have lost their jobs because they were not able to obtain these permits. Furthermore these people have already established their lives and started families in SA and now cannot go back.

The relatives permit is also tearing families apart. Spouses have been separated because they cannot obtain the permits. I have been checking in at the SAHC and I’m always told to come back the following week.

This has been going on since August 2017. The latest feedback I got is to come back in March.
If the relevant people are under investigation and cannot issue permits, why isn’t the South African government sending other employees?

Why is the Swazi Government quiet while their people are being treated like this. By the way, I did report this to our Ministry of International Affairs.

So we sit with a high commission that is frustrating students who want to further their studies, denying workers their critical skills permits and tearing families apart by not issuing relatives permit.

An unfair situation indeed. The public should not be punished, we deserve better service from the SAHC.

Busi
