THE EXISTENCE OF WHITE MONOPOLY CAPITAL IN SA

Sir,

I wonder who some of the political figures in South Africa are trying to please by denying the existence of white monopoly capital.
The world today is still basically white dominated.

Economic giants are mainly in the white populated northern hemisphere. What is now embarrassing about the phrase are the origins of white domination.
It is not a hidden fact that the prosperity of the big corporations or multi-nationals was built on the foundations of slavery, apartheid and imperialism.

The big firms in mining, hospitality, manufacturing etc flourished at the height of these evils in the mid-ninetieth century.
The main reason for these now embarrassing barbaric acts was economic domination which they achieved. They imposed a sense of inferiority among the victims and propagated white supremacy in which people like Donald Trump still pride themselves in. We should not forget though about millions of individual humane, civilised liberal and open-minded white people out there. Who know we are homosapeins, same species.

It is also impossible for people in the former African colonies to totally eradicate white monopoly capital. The multi-national firms have huge investments in these states.

Blacks are further made cheap labour and given mediocre education for them to remain workers in the economic systems.
Even in these now ‘independent’ countries the major players in their economies are whites who remained and still have connections with the colonial power e.g the Swazi sugar industry.

It is not unusual for African heads of states and the ruling class, especially finance ministries to be beneficiaries of these entities and South Africa’s Thabo Mbeki and Trevor Manuel should not let us suspect them as such.

The prime objective of the formation of the African National Congress in 1912 was to directly challenge white domination. The duo should not gave joined it if they deny white domination today.

If certain groups of people are now embarrassed by the phrase ‘White Monopoly Capital’ they should help bridge the economic disparities otherwise it will remain for many centuries to come.
