‘DISSERVICE’ BY SEC

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

Sir,

Thank you for allowing me space in your newspaper to vent my frustrations over what I term a ‘disservice’ by SEC. This is a story of a poor Swazi man and other families who cannot afford the exorbitant costs to have electricity for his (their) household (s).

As a result, through micro- project we formed what is popularly known as ‘schemes’.  We formed a scheme in our area in January, 2014.
It may not have been SEC’s fault that there was a delay but it was only in December, 2016 that we were told to pay a connection fee, almost three years later. We rushed to make the payments so we could finally have electricity. We were told that in 14 days time we would be enjoying the benefits of having electricity but alas, to date we are still in darkness.

Everyone who goes there is told to wait for 14 days.  This is sad especially to us who have waited since 2014. I visited the service centre recently and I was told there were no meters. Goodness!
I was told that is the only reason why we are still living in darkness. Pardon me to think that this happens because we are in Swaziland, we cannot march to SEC head offices.

A big company such as SEC is a resourceful entity and under these circumstances contingency measures should be applied.
At best we request a statement from SEC explaining herself, we cannot afford to be continuously told of the 14 days waiting period which never comes. Sicela nisikhanyisele basemagesini. The wait has been unjustifiably too long.
