SHOW CHILDREN THE RIGHT WAY

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

Sir,

I think it is hypocritical of us as a nation to preach anti-corruption to everyone when we don’t even pay attention to where these corrupt behaviours take root. Most recently I was watching a secondary school essay competition where young people were expected o be creative and write self composed pieces. Where am I going with this?

Well I believe the aim of this competition was to encourage creativity and give young people exposure to new things however my problem with the whole setting came about when the first prize went to a student who had received assistance from an English inspector and a teacher while from what I gathered the second and third runner had done this all by themselves! This is the foul play I am referring to. It may not seem like a big deal to most but this breaks my spirit and zeal for the whole vision 2022 and peaceful nation anti corruption movement because we have allowed a seed of corruption to take root in our young people.

Please do understand that my intention is not to disgrace this particular young person but rather to disgrace the actions of the teacher and English inspector.
