AN OPEN LETTER TO NTATE RAMODIBEDI
Sir,
I am writing this letter to you with the hope that you shall read and meditate on it. I also hope that you will take my free advice and do what is expected of you - surrender yourself to the police.
I know I am not the first person to advise you. Labadzala, the Prime Minister and the National Commissioner of Police have all advised you to surrender yourself to the police. However, you have proven to be stubborn since you have refused to listen to that advice. They assured you that you will be safe in the hands of the police and they will not harm you.
Sir, by hiding inside a State-owned house and resisting lawful arrest you are setting a bad precedent in our country.
What do you expect ordinary people to do if arrest warrants have been issued against them? Are you inciting them to hide as you are doing? Such can only be expected from thugs.
You have been a legal practitioner for decades, so you ought to know that resisting lawful arrest is a crime in itself. You also ought to know that by hiding you are drastically reducing your chances of being granted bail. You have proven that you are a flight risk.
Hiding and raising arguments of diplomatic and judicial immunity does not help your case. This is cheap politics. You have no place to hide and no one feels pity for you. The people who claimed to be proud of you when things were going well are now the same people waiting for your downfall.
This maxim is true, ‘there are no permanent friends in politics’.
Simple... because you have had misunderstandings lately with certain Cabinet officials, they are now of the suspicion that you have brought the Judiciary into shame. This is Swaziland. The law can be used to fight battles and further political desires.
