DERBY MAYHEM WAS NOT AN ACT OF GOD!

Sir,

I would like to express my disgust at the way Swazi football is being run. As a country, our football will not go anywhere if we will allow this circus to override football justice. I am talking about the occurrences on December 7, which resulted in mayhem. Before I spell out my opinion on the issue, let me briefly outline or rather remind people of what happened on the day.

I believe I had the best view as I was sitting in the middle of the no-man’s land and I could see what was happening in the Royal Box, at the Highlander’s and Swallow’s main stands.
I saw beautiful soccer displayed by both teams in the first half and in the second half I saw Mbabane Swallow’s Wonder, Tony, Sandile and Felix, running helter skelter at Mbabane Highlanders’ defence. Swallows were then scoring goals like they were in fashion, with Felix also missing clear sitters.

I saw the skirmish fracas at the Royal box, I didn’t see (clearly) who were fighting but I was informed. There are  many versions to the reason behind the fight, hence I cannot mislead the people and tell them which version I believe, all I know is they fought and that was not an act of God.
I saw Mbabane Highlanders fans forcefully entering the Royal box.

As some Highlanders fans were in the royal box, some were throwing missiles into the pitch, probably disgusted by the way Swallows was tossing and turning their team.
The referee stopped the match, the police went to the Highlander’s main stand and tried to calm the situation as it turned nasty, they began throwing water  to disperse the violent fans from their stand.
As the situation got nastier, both Swallows and Highlanders players were escorted off the field, thereafter, Mbabane Swallows fans entered the pitch in a jovial mood as they were attacked by fans who were dispersed by the police.
Thereafter, the police used teargas to disperse everyone out of the stadium.

Now, with all these facts being presented, the question is was it an act of God? Does it warrant a replay? The answer is NO WAYS. I believe the fracas between the teams bosses was between them and it was going to be manageable, if Mbabane Highlanders fans never invaded the royal box and threw missiles into the pitch. The bottom line is they were angry at the score line because with only seven minutes still to be played, it was like Swallows was still going to score more goals.

for those who still haven't noticed, everything if not most is ran using the tinkhundla system. this country is far from being a world class or 1st world war country.
